We all want to work at a job or in a business where we feel like we are making a difference, and accomplishing something.
Regardless of the type of work that you do, there are several things you can do to make you workplace better, both for you and
your customer. Following are some things successful businesses stress with their employees:
Team Spirit- Focus is on the work and not the individual. Teams do what they need to
to get work done successfully.
Cheerleading- Everyone is encouraging and supportive of their co-workers.
Communication-The more everyone is in the loop and on the same page, the better the
the work can get done.
Honesty- Honesty brings value to the work, the workplace, and the product.
Respect- Sensitivity to individuals needs, encouragement of stakeholders, and tolerance for
difference of opinions.
Empowerment- Empowerment allows the freedom to take chances and to do your best at
your job.
Respect-Recognition of individual employee’s differences and acceptance for their ability to
do the job in their own unique way.
Commitment to Quality- As a moral and practical issue quality starts with
relationships. From the owner of the business, to the employees, to the customers, everyone
needs to focus on providing the best service or product possible.
Honesty- Without honesty in the workplace communication, products and services, and
relationships all suffer.
Equitable Reward-The more equitable the reward system, the harder employees are
willing to work, and the more they will take ownership for products and services.
In today’s ever changing work world finding the recipe for a sound and successful business it not as easy as it seems. If you
have a good product, and customers to sell it to, the next step is learning to run your business with a team of successful
employees. The ten basic tenets can be applied to any business to help it to run more successfully.
