The loss of a job is a major event in our lives.  If you or someone you know loses a job you can expect there to be a wide range
of emotions.  It is easy to feel hurt and angry, hopeless or useless.  The loss of a job can create a change of your daily routine,
loss of your support network, and loss of financial security.  While we never really thing of it, our jobs provide us more than just
a way to make money.  Quite often, our identity is tied to our job and , for us, is the way we form our own "self image:.

While the feelings that come with losing a job may differ from person to person, it is not uncomon form people who lose their
jobs to experience a real form of grief.  This grief can bring rise to a wide range of emotions that can and do vary from person
to person.  While each person is unique and will act in a distinct way, the following are some feelings the loss of a job may
create:

              *  Depression                                                      *Embarrassment
              *  Feelings of losing control                                 *Distrust of employers-businesses
              *  Feelings of Blame/Inadequacy                         * Paranoia
              *  Hostility                                                          *Jealousy
              *  Major mood swings                                          * Sadness

When someone loses a job it is easy to get caught up in a cycle of self-pity and anger.  While it may be easier said than done, the
first thing to do is not react negatively.  If you lose a job you will need to start over.  The sooner you accept your situation and
start moving on, the better it will be for you in the long run.  Do your best to keep your emotions under control, and try to
remain calm.  If your company offers re-employment services or counseling, use them.  This could help to create the start of
new business contacts that you can use in your hunt for a new job.

If you or someone you know loses a job it is important to find someone neutral to talk to about it.  Find a friend, pastor, or
counselor who can talk to confidentially that will not judge you as you share your hurt and anger.
