If you are one of those unhappy workers who believes their dream job is out there, you may want to be careful in your
pursuit of occupational happiness.  Too many employees have left their jobs only to find that employers either are not
hiring right now, or that the jobs they are hiring for are still vastly different than that dream job they were hoping for.

While it is difficult to remain in a job that makes you unhappy, it is even more devastating to quit your job only to find
yourself navigating a tight job market where competition for quality employment is fierce, and only the most qualified ,
talented, and lucky applicants are being hired into the jobs that are most desirable.
If you are finding yourself in this position, but unable to find a better situation, it is time to take control and start doing
what you can to turn your current job from drudgery to enjoyment.  Following are some tips to make your current job
more enjoyable.

           •         Take care of your emotional health and do not let your job depress you.
           •        Develop outside interests that you look forward to and can use to motivate you.
           •        Keep yourself healthy and fit and do not let your work wear you down.
           •        Make your workplace enjoyable by creating challenges that keep you motivated.
           •        Develop cordial relationships at work that make the workplace interesting.
           •        Let your co-workers and employer know you are interested in what you do.
           •        Engage others by asking their opinions, and trying to work cooperatively.
           •        Offer to organize activities that offer team building.  You are all in this together.
           •        Build an outside support system that helps you deal with your job frustrations.
           •        Finally, take care of yourself and do what is right and best for you and your family.

Government surveys report that up to 50% of workers dislike their jobs.  In addition, a recent survey by Salary.com,
Inc. found that 60% of workers are looking for a new job or planning to do so within the next three months.
In an already tight job market, leaving your job will put you in direct competition with a large number of workers who are
actively looking for jobs.  Before you make any decisions, it is important to carefully evaluate your situation, also to
make sure you are in a position to make a career move in these uncertain times.
