How to Become
more Successful

Most of us want to be successful at some level in life.  We either want to make more money, to have
more friends,be famous, or to be able to live a certain lifestyle.  While success is in the eye of the
beholder, there are some important things you can do to achieve your own personal level of success.

•        Success breeds success- find people who have the success you desire and  learn from them.

•        Know what you want- people often fail to quantify their success.  Just saying I want to be rich,
or I want to be successful are vague concepts that will leave you floundering.  Set goals, then work to
achieve them.

•        Don’t want too many things at once- one of the keys to being successful is being able to focus
on what you want then being able to get it.  Spreading yourself too thin makes it difficult to focus on
your priorities.

•        Practice, Practice, Practice, then Practice some more-in the book “The Outliers ”, the principal
of 10,000 hours is discussed.  The premise the 10,000 hour concept is that people who are truly
extraordinary at something have spent more than 10,000 honing their skills.  Simply put, to get where
you want will take dedication, time and practice.

•        Know your limitations- going into any venture thinking you know it all is probably not a good
idea.  We all can learn from those around us.  The more open minded you are, the smarter you will
be in the long run.

•        Think in the long term- Look at each success as a stepping stone to the next.  Having money
can now lead to having more time to do what you want; being free to do what you want can eliminate
stress.  Have a long range plan, and keep building on your successes.
Too often the ups and downs of life get in the way of what we are really trying to accomplish.  Don’t
let minor setbacks get in the way of your long-term hopes and dreams.  Set your goals and priorities,
and keep coming back to them once you have cleared life’s little obstacles out of the way.
